Asses

Today I’d like to talk about my ass collection. The paintings of donkeys I created (what did you think I mean?!)

I enjoy a good pun as much as the next person and the ‘ass’ titles started a couple of years ago with ‘Does My Ass Look Big In This?'“

I posted a picture of it on instagram and got a bunch of good comments; it also gleaned lots of approval at every fair I took it too until it sold last April.

I got limited edition giclée editions prints done of it and they have been selling consistently since.

Does My Ass Look Big In This? The painting that launched a thousand asses.

“Does My Ass Look Big This?’’ was followed by “Kiss My Ass’’, ‘‘Bad Ass’’ which was longlisted for the Secret Art Prize organised by Curious Duke gallery in East London. The latest ass in the collection is a little painting ‘‘Assing Around’’; I based this little donkey on the traditional Mexican Piñatas. Little Donkey is also featured here although this one doesn’t actually have an ass pun but he’s still cute!

Left: ‘‘Kiss My Ass” Right: “Bad Ass” Both are painting in block colours, a new style I’ve been trialling this summer. Whilst I’ve enjoyed this new way of painting, I’m not completely abandoning my old style and am trying to find a way of blending both. I especially enjoyed marrying grey with bright colours for this collection; love the neon pink and purple I used for Bad Ass’s mohawk!

Hope you enjoy the pictures; I had fun painting them!

Most of these pieces are available on my website. ‘Does My Ass Look Big In This?’’ and “Little Donkey” original paintings are sold but they are available as prints in two different sizes.

Happy browsing : )
