Last but not least, these lovely little goldfish were such fun to create! I had goldfish as a child and there is something soothing and fascinating about watching fish in an aquarium. I took inspiration from traditional Chinese and Japanese paintings of koi carps for this piece; I wanted to make the scene look peaceful yet dreamy and poetic, the fish cocooned in their own world. I like the idea that the fish are presumably under water but the flower makes you think they are floating in the air, adding a touch of whimsy.
